Manufacturers of contact lenses are still coming up with new materials (eg. hydrogel or silicone hydrogel) and products to ensure the contact lenses the maximum possible comfort and get minimum burdens of the cornea (high permeability for oxygen is required). Monthly contact lenses (all day wearing)

  • Air Optix Aqua (Ciba Vision), the possibility of occasional overnight, 3 or 6 individually packaged lenses
  • Air Optix Aqua Night & Day (Ciba Vision), the possibility of continuous wear 29 nights and 30 days, 6 individually packaged lenses
  • Surevue (Johnson and Johnson), 6 individually packaged lenses
  • Precision UV (Ciba Vision), 6 individually packaged lenses
  • Frequency 55 (Coopervision), 6 individually packaged lenses

Three-months contact lenses

  • Optima FW (Bausch and Lomb), carrying a maximum of 8 hours per day 4 individually packaged lenses

Toric contact lenses for astigmatism (all day wearing)

  • Focus Dailies All Day Comfort (Ciba Vision), 30 individually packaged lenses (one-day contact lenses)
  • Air Optix for Astigmatism (Ciba Vision), 6 individually packaged lenses (monthly lenses)
  • Acuvue Advance Astigmatism (Johnson and Johnson), 6 individually packaged lenses (bi-weekly contact lenses)

Another special contact lenses (all day wearing)

  • bifocal contact lenses
  • multifocal lenses for long distance and reading
  • color and crazy contact lenses (dioptrical and nondioptrical)
